It was an allegedly uneventful early Wednesday morning as we started our trip to London. After a smooth flight we handed our mountains of luggage to our shuttle service and went off to London city by train, where we had a look around and saw Trafalgar Square, as well as Piccadilly Circus. We finally arrived in Mottingham, where most of our host families lived, had a very British dinner and fell into our beds.

In the following days we were able to see the Tower of London, the Crown Jewels (and ravens impressed us all), Tower Bridge, Hyde Park, the Changing of the Guards (as well as the Changing of the Horse Guards).

Part of our program were two walking tours: a Jack the Ripper tour and a street art tour, which both were interesting and provided different perspectives of London and its history. We even saw a football game, Sutton United VS Salford City, which was an entertaining experience!

Of course we didn’t miss out on other cultural necessities such as the National Gallery, British Museum and Tate Modern. Of course there was also a musical evening – Frozen brought back some childhood memories to many of us and was highly entertaining.

These were only a few examples of all the marvellous sights we saw!

I speak in behalf of all when I say that we enjoyed this week full of new experiences which we will never forget!

We convey special gratitude to our teachers, Mr. Schwarz and Mrs. Riethorst, who transmitted calmness, motivation and joy throughout the whole journey. Furthermore, we thank them for their trust, allowing us free time which we could spend on our own to eat our (packed) lunch, to go shopping or just wander around.  At this point we must not forget our host families who made sure we were on time, ate (and slept).

Finally we would like to thank our school’s “Elternverein”, the department JUFF and the ÖAD for their financial support.
